We appreciate your generosity and the commitment you’ve expressed to our medical staff and all of our associates. We are working around the clock to deliver the highest-quality patient care while trying to stay healthy ourselves. Your donation helps all of us further our ability to succeed during this health crisis. Thank you for being our partners. Your generosity and confidence in our work means the world to us. Thank you for playing your important role, too, by staying home and practicing good social distancing and hand hygiene practices. With gratitude, Adventist Health Castle’s leadership, support and care teams Community collaboration at work One of the favorite Associate Appreciation surprises at Adventist Health Castle was individual bottles of hand sanitizer, donated by Ko‘olau Distillery. The company pivoted its operations to help fill the demand for alcohol-based hand sanitizer, using a formula approved by the World Health Organization. “We had no idea of the scope of the sanitizer shortage when we started out, but when the emergency responders called to say they were out, it was a wake-up call for us,” recalls Eric Dill, the company’s co-founder. He and his partner, Ian Brooks, put in 17-hour days to ramp up production. Both are retired Marines. “Helping out is what we do,” Eric says. All of the sanitizer they make has been donated to organizations on the front lines of coronavirus response. When contacted by Castle, they agreed to make a donation and noted the need for hydrogen peroxide, a key ingredient that was in short supply. Knowing that school science labs use hydrogen peroxide for class experiments, Tracie Ann Tjapkes, director of Castle Wellness & Lifestyle Medicine, asked the Hawai‘i Association of Independent Schools for help. She received donations from Iolani, Punahou and Trinity Christian School, as well as mason jars from other organizations.
