Donna Schmidt and Ryan Ashlock at our Kailua location Urgent Care Hawaii is now Adventist Health Castle ON DECEMBER 1, 2021, Adventist Health Castle acquired Urgent Care Hawaii (UCH), with clinics in Pearl City, Kapolei and Kailua. Approximately 60 dedicated staff, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physicians, joined the Castle `ohana. This acquisition furthers Adventist Health Castle’s vision of increasing access to care for the community, by providing multiple locations across O`ahu with after-hours and weekend availability. The three state-of-the-art urgent care facilities in Kailua, Kapolei and Pearl City provide immediate infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric care, including basic laboratory, X-ray and telehealth services, along with occupational medicine and COVID-19 testing. Additionally, Adventist Health Castle is committed to expanding service offerings by adding Expanding care in and beyo both primary and specialty care in 2022. “Adventist Health Castle is thrilled to be able to offer walk-in services, with no appointment, to our communities both in and beyond Windward O`ahu,” says Ryan Ashlock, Adventist Health Castle President. “This acquisition not only expands our footprint, but it also allows us to provide our award- winning patient-centered care to the communities served by Urgent Care Hawaii.” History of Urgent Care Hawaii Donna Schmidt started Urgent Care Hawaii to alleviate serious but solvable outpatient medical issues that were burdening emergency rooms with the first location in Pearl City in 2011. When other opportunities arose, Schmidt acquired locations in Kapolei and Kailua. The urgent care also offers first aid at large events like parades and on-site pre-sports physicals in local high schools, adding convenience for busy families at the beginning of the school and sports season. This service brings accessible care to consumers in a unique and innovative way, benefitting patients and providers. Need-driven care brought Schmidt’s connection to Adventist Health Castle full circle through the Urgent Care Plus program, which bridges the gap between urgent care and primary care through patient connections and referrals. UC Plus patients often seek care for disorders because they are unable to get timely appointments with a primary care physician (PCP). UC Plus supports the patient consumer by giving them access to care and linking them to a PCP for follow-up, if they don’t have one. Our friendly Urgent Care Kailua staff are ready to help you. 4 | WINDWARD HEALTH
