The distinction recognizes facilities that have excelled in providing care to mothers, newborns and their families, as verified by the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital survey. Best Maternity Care Hospitals is part of Newsweek , powered by data from The Leapfrog Group. “Best Maternity Care Hospitals are an elite group of hospitals from across the country,” says Nancy Cooper, Editor-in- Chief of Newsweek . “These facilities are to be commended for the care they provide to women and families and for giving babies a strong start to life.” Hospitals named as a Best Maternity Care Hospital have met The Leapfrog Group’s standards for maternity care on evidence- based, nationally standardized metrics. Castle was one of fewer than 250 to receive the prestigious accolade. ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACCOLADES Best in maternity care and more! Christmas will come, despite the pandemic, and while Adventist Health Castle’s annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, which usually draws nearly 3,000 people to the medical center’s campus, will not be possible given the current COVID-19 guidelines, administrators at Castle have decided to light the tree during the holiday season as a shining light in dark times and a symbol of hope, healing and faith. “Of course the Christmas tree will go up this year, and it will be every bit as beautiful as it has been for nearly 40 years,” says President Kathy Raethel. “We may need to reimagine how we light up the campus, but we look forward to celebrating the Christmas season in spirit with our community.” Adventist Health Castle has been named to the 2020 list of Best Maternity Care Hospitals in Newsweek . U.S. News & World Report U.S. News announced the 2020–21 Best Hospitals honor roll and specialty rankings. This year, AH Castle was among 134 elite hospitals that received a ranking in at least one adult specialty. Castle received a high- performing five-star ranking in the following two procedures: •  Cardiology & Heart Surgery/Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair. •  Orthopedics/Knee Replacement. To help patients decide where to receive care, U.S. News generates hospital rankings by evaluating data on nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult medical specialties, 10 adult procedures or conditions, and 10 pediatric specialties. To be nationally ranked in a specialty, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients. The ratings in procedures and conditions focus on typical Medicare patients, and eligibility is based on the number of patients treated. Becker’s Hospital Review Using the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems scores from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Becker’s has compiled a list of the best hospitals for patient experience in each state.
